The construction contract for the Kosken school is on schedule

The construction of school centers in Imatra continues even though the Mansikkala school center has been completed. The third school center is being built in Imatrankoski and will be put into use next fall. The school's students and teachers already got used to living next to the construction site last year, and there is one more school year ahead before the new school is finished. 

We are moving to interior work on the Koski school center building. The construction contract is starting to be mostly done in terms of exterior work. The windows are already almost all in place, the water ceiling has been installed, the facade plastering is in progress and the masonry of the facades is nearing completion. Inside, most of the partition walls have already been bricked, painting work is underway, as well as HVAC and electrical work. In August, part of the heating can be turned on and the heating can finally be started at the end of September. 

During the summer, yard work has also been done on the side of the high school and will be completed by the start of school. 

- When school starts, the students will have the same break area as last year, and access to the modules will still go through the forest, says developer Ari Lattu Mitra. 

The site area is still completely fenced off and site traffic goes through Sulkukuja. There is still traffic, but not to the same extent as last winter, the big trucks bringing construction elements are missing. Pupils and staff must travel along the marked routes in the school area and all travel takes place via Kanavakatu.

- Last academic year, the transport arrangements were already in effect and then everything went smoothly, everyone traveled along well-marked routes. I believe that everything will go well this year as well, says Lattu. 

According to the plans, the building should be ready in terms of interior work in May 2021, after which there will still be finishing and cleaning of the exterior spaces for the summer.
