Blog from Kaisa Heino: Imatra's success plan comes true

In the opening speech of the September personnel celebration and in the blog I wrote afterwards, I talked a little about the city's renewed strategy. I promised that during the rest of the year, there will be a nice atmosphere of doing things with the themes of Trying, Trying, Ketterästi.

 In the whirlwind of autumn rushes, we were finally able to work on the steps of implementing the strategy only at the beginning of December. We organized a joint workshop day with our supervisors, where we thought about how we are going to implement our first step "Trying"? During the day, a lot of different ways of working and alternatives were accumulated, with which all units and our team can begin to stir up a new gear in their own group's culture of experimentation and ideation.

 At the same time, we also talked about explaining the strategy. Videos have been worked on to support the explanation, so that each of us understands our plans at least in a mostly uniform way. This is the only way to ensure that we have truly common goals and methods of operation.
We also discussed whether strategy, just as a term, makes the listener feel uncomfortable about something vague and difficult - the idea that the "strategy" doesn't apply to my work at least. Would we rather talk about Imatra's success plan in plain language? That's what strategy is. Our shared plan for success. It indicates the work of each of us every day, the choices we make during the working day, and the way we communicate about our work.

 Imatra is, and wants to be, a city larger than its size. That's our vision.

The three points of our success plan are strengthening vitality, promoting well-being and renewing operating methods. These three guidelines guide all our activities.
As a common cause of a vibrant municipality, we pass on a happy, active and positive message about our city. Everyone can participate by developing new things that increase the attractiveness of our city, as well as by sharing a message about our eternally wonderful National Wonder. Let's boldly and visibly highlight the special features of our region and our successes!
So we are now moving forward with the implementation of our success plan in three pieces that have been chewed up into suitable sizes.

1. By trying is that we actively innovate, innovate and experiment boldly.

2. In the car means doing things together and blowing coal together. We are a force that crosses borders.

3. Agile tells about our way of working: we are quick, alert and unobtrusive.

So the first phase has started! The purpose is to awaken creativity and ideation in all of us, to revive even those crazy ideas as the driving force for the well-being of the people of Imatra and the vitality of Imatra.

We have everything and we can do it!
