There are indications of microbes in the sample from the lobby of the gymnasium downstairs, the results are in January-February. According to the indoor air working group, the premises can be used based on the current research results. The situation is monitored all the time.

In the Linnala school fitness test samples taken so far, the findings of wool fibers have been confirmed at several measurement sites. Particularly high fiber concentrations have been found in the classes on the old side of the stone school.

During the Christmas break, the parts of the ventilation machines in the old side of the stone school that contain wool fibers are renewed and the silencers are coated. Also on the side of the new school, the ventilation system will be checked and the silencers coated, after which the ventilation system of the entire school will be checked.

Significant fiber findings support the symptoms experienced by users. Wool fibers especially cause eye irritation and upper respiratory tract symptoms.

- With the measures taken to the ventilation system, the symptoms caused by fiber sources should be relieved quickly. The success of the work is monitored by repeating the fiber measurements. The users' experiences are also closely monitored during January-February, says Arja Kujala, head of welfare services.

There are indications of microbes in the sample from the lobby of the gym on the ground floor, and structural studies of the facilities in the area are being continued. The results of these samples are obtained between January and February.

Staff and guardians will be informed of the results as soon as they are completed.

According to the indoor air working group that met on Monday, in the light of the current research results, studies can be continued at the school. The situation will be reconsidered when the rest of the results are completed.

An extensive fitness study is underway at Linnala school (Raksystems Insinööritoimisto Oy, RTA Kari Hassinen). The research aims to find out possible sources of indoor air pollution.
