Commercial and industrial buildings were built in Imatra in 2015

In 2015, construction focused on commercial and industrial construction. Housing construction decreased from the previous year. Holiday buildings were still being built in Ukonniemi. There was also a decrease in the number of renovations and other changes and smaller-scale construction compared to the previous year. There were 291 (342) issued building and operation permits.

The most notable completed buildings in 2015

The largest completed commercial buildings were the Prisma commercial building on Karhumäenkatu and the new Rautakesko with its warehouse roofs on Virasoja. Industrial buildings were completed in Imatran Lämpö Oy's two bioheat centers in Rajapatsa and Immola, and Stora Enso Oyj's storage hall for the Tainionkoski factory. Other larger completed projects were the biathlon and baseball stadium in Ukonniemi, the Tainionkoski school canteen, the renovation of the Lyseo and the extension of the Koski school, as well as the renovation of the Karhumäki blessing chapel and the renovation of Fortum's Villa Malmi.

In Ukonniemi, the Chalets 2 accommodation building was completed in Purjekuja, 7 leisure semi-detached houses in Reivikuja, two 6-apartment holiday buildings and 2 four-apartment holiday buildings in Kohonkankaantie. Terraced houses were completed on Vuoksenrannankatu and Ailikuja, and the renovation of one apartment building on Kirkkokatu.

The most significant projects under construction at the turn of the year

The largest construction sites under construction are a bio-heating plant in Virasoja, the construction of a theater in Imatrankoski, a wooden apartment building to be built in Reinonkatu, a training school in Vuoksenniska and a storage hall in Ensonrannantie. A restaurant is under construction on Kalarantantie.
