The official symbol of Imatra is the coat of arms. It is an important part of our identity. The colors of the coat of arms are red, silver and gold. For the people of Imatra, the colors represent development, zest for life, wealth and well-being. Imatra's coat of arms was designed by Olof Eriksson in 1950. In the red field of the coat of arms, there are three vertically placed one-knee arrow-shaped gold-tipped silver lightning bolts pointing in two directions.
The coat of arms is intended as a symbol of the city's official activities and trust body organization, as well as for valuable representative use. The coat of arms is used e.g. in the meeting documents of trust bodies and city banners. The use of the coat of arms is also justified, for example, in school emission certificates and on nameplates of city buildings. The use of the coat of arms must be separately agreed with the city's director of communications, who can give permission for the use of the coat of arms. Otherwise, the city emblem is used.
In 2005, Imatra got its own city pennant, which is used like the home team's pennant. It was the idea of the then mayor Tauno Moilanen. The pennant repeats the colors of Imatra's coat of arms, red, yellow and white.
