My municipality - the library as a forum for discussing common issues and supporting media literacy is a joint project of the seven public libraries in the Lahti region and the Cultura Foundation. From South Karelia, the city libraries of Imatra and Lappeenranta are involved. The project is coordinated by the Lahti City Library. The project aims to improve the trust of the local government in local government, to increase the interaction between people and the experiences of participation, and to strengthen media literacy.
During the project, guided discussion sessions on local, current topics will be organized in the libraries. In addition to municipal residents, decision-makers, office holders and media representatives are invited to the discussion. The Group Break method is used in the discussions, which can be used to have a constructive and equal social discussion.
The project period is July 1.7.2022, 31.12.2023–December XNUMX, XNUMX. The project has received a grant from the Regional Administration Office.
