The library offers spaces for spending free time, learning, hobbies, working and civic activities. If you wish, you can organize a lecture in the library on a topic that interests you or another free event. It is also possible to organize a small exhibition. The use of the premises costs nothing.
The living room is a reading and working space located in the adult section of the main library, where small events and occasions are often organized. The room can accommodate twenty people on couches and tables. The living room is free for everyone to use when the library is open, except during pre-arranged events. The space is also available during self-employed hours.
The library's local material, the Imatra collection, is kept in the Imatra room of the main library. You can use the space for reading or other work whenever it is free. There is a conference table for six people, a computer and a 55-inch screen for customer use. The room also has a microfilm reading device for studying the microfilmed Ylä-Vuoks.
The Imatra room is not in use during self-service hours.
The main library's playing room is a soundproof space where you can practice playing in complete peace. An electric piano, guitar and ukulele are at your disposal, but you can also bring your own instruments to the space. The room has a CD player for accompanying records. You can reserve a room for your use in advance. You can go and call right away if the room is free and there are no other reservations.
Molli is not in use during self-employment hours.
Duuri, located right next to the playing room Moll, is also a sound-proof space intended for listening to music. You can also use the room for, for example, an interview or other private discussions. You can book a room in advance.
Duuri is not in use during self-employment hours.
Smartblock is a meeting space intended for 1–4 people. It has sound insulation and vision protection. There are also preparations for video conferences: a 32-inch screen (with HDMI connection) and a Jabra conference camera and speaker (with USB connections). You can reserve space in advance, also for self-employed people.
In the summer of 2020, the youth's own room was relocated between the children's and adults' departments. In the room you can hang out and meet friends, read, watch videos and play console games (Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3 and Playstation 4). You can play by signing up at the lending desk with a Library card.
The room is intended for fourth graders and older. Leave your shoes on the shoe rack and put your trash in the trash can. The facility has recording camera surveillance. The room is also in use during self-employment time, but you can't play then.
In the summer of 2020, a separate room for small children with soft carpets and sofas was established in the children's department, in the place of the former youth room. There you will find thick-leaf and loud picture books. Leave your shoes on a rack outside the room, please. The children's room is also available during self-employment.
The facility has recording camera surveillance.
The main library's fairy tale room, Satulaakso, is available for reading during the library's service hours, for example. Several children's events, for example puppet shows, are organized in Satulaakso. The space can accommodate a maximum of about 50 people.
The fairy tale room has recording camera surveillance. It is not available during self-employment hours.
