Better schools in a district

Three new school centers were built in Imatra in 2017-2021. For example, Mansikkala rose Finland's largest timber-structured school . We want to guarantee healthy and modern learning environments for children and young people with high-quality school buildings. At the same time, the facilities of the daycare centers will also be renovated. The idea in all school centers is that the student's transition on the academic path is as flexible as possible.

Imatra is in the digital era the top municipalities of the country. Students in grades 3-9 have personal tablets. Students in early childhood education, pre-primary education and grades 1-2 have group-specific tablets.

The new school centers are built so that the children's trips to school are not long anywhere in the city. In addition, the city offers school transport for all small students more than three kilometers away.

 

Vuoksenniska school center

• Elementary school 1-9, preschool, daycare.
• Vuoksenniska school center operates in four buildings on Vuoksenniska hill, one of which is a modern new building completed in autumn 2019.

Emphasis on natural sciences

• Junior University cooperates with LUT University. 

Mansikkala - Finland's largest tree school

• Multipurpose center: elementary school, upper secondary school.
• The new, Finland's largest timber-structured school was commissioned in August 2020.
• The utility area is approximately 11 square meters. The squares are divided into several blocks of wooden houses, with a sheltered activity yard in the middle
• The investment was implemented as a life-cycle project, meaning that the builder YIT is responsible for the maintenance of the property for 20 years. 

Emphasis on exercise and music

• Mansikkala's priorities are taken into account in all basic education, middle school and high school have the opportunity to study at a cultural or sports academy, which makes it possible to combine competitive sports with studying, for example.
• In Mansikkala, in addition to the joint high school, there is also an IB high school and the Russian-language high school education of the school of Eastern Finland.

Koski school center

Emphasis on languages ​​and internationality

• The new Koske school center consists of the already renovated traditional Lyseo building and two new buildings. The second new building is the so-called main school built for permanent use, and the second new building is a space element rented for longer-term use.
• The new main school was completed in the summer of 2021. On its roof, the school's own solar power plant produces energy.
• The Koske school operates in the Koske school center, which, in addition to the traditional preschool and elementary school, also offers English-language classes for students in grades 1-9.
• Koskella also operates a foundation-based school in Eastern Finland, where teaching is given in Russian.
