Upper secondary education is free of charge for all Finnish students. So students do not need to purchase study equipment, for example a laptop, themselves.
Students entitled to free education can receive school travel support if the journey to school is at least 7 kilometers in one direction.
You can apply for school travel allowance from the National Pension Service at: School travel allowance | Personal customers | Coil. The school gives a student entitled to school travel support a purchase certificate, which the student can use to buy a travel ticket.
Free secondary education applies to students who have graduated from elementary school after 1.1.2021 January.

You can print a certificate from Wilma with which you can get yourself a VR or Matkahuolto student card.
