Upper secondary education is free of charge for all Finnish students. So students do not need to purchase study equipment, for example a laptop, themselves.
Students entitled to free education can receive school travel support if the journey to school is at least 7 kilometers in one direction.
You can apply for school travel allowance from Kela. Application forms and more information can be obtained from the office and from: www.kela.fi. The school gives a student entitled to school travel support a purchase certificate, which the student can use to buy a travel ticket.
Free secondary education applies to students who have graduated from elementary school after 1.1.2021 January.
Traveling in leisure time
You can print a certificate from Wilma, which you can use to get yourself a student card of VR (Railway) or Matkahuolto (bus).
