Upper secondary school studies, totaling at least 150 credits, must be completed by the end of April 2025 if you want to graduate in spring 2025!
Taking the matriculation examination requires that the person completing the upper secondary school curriculum has studied the mandatory study units/courses in the subject for which he or she is taking the exam, according to the timetable, before taking the exam.
The principal may refuse to participate in the exam if the stipulated requirements are not met. A situation review will be conducted before the writing and the principal will notify the student through Wilma one week before the exam date if the student does not have the right to participate in the high school entrance exam.
The matriculation examination must include examinations in at least five subjects. All candidates must include an examination in their mother tongue and literature. In addition, the examination must include examinations in at least four different subjects, from at least three of the following groups:
mathematics, a second Finnish language, a foreign language and science. The exams must include at least one long-term exam.
If a person who has registered for the exam fails to arrive at the exam or does not submit the exam paper for grading, the exam will be considered interrupted and failed.
The Matriculation Examination Board may, upon application, cancel the registration for a particularly weighty reason.
Compelling reasons include: illness, studying or working abroad, and a special obstacle arising from military service.
An exam for which registration has been cancelled will not be counted as a test attempt for that subject. If registration is cancelled, the fee charged for the exam will be refunded to the candidate. Cancelling registration does not extend the time required to complete the degree.
Anyone who has registered to take a degree or separate exams is required to pay the fees related to the matriculation examination.
The first five exams are free of charge, and retaking a failed exam is also free of charge under certain conditions.
The examination fee per exam is 38 euros.
The degree must be completed in a maximum of three consecutive examination periods:
Completion of a degree is considered to have begun when the student registers for the first time for the degree matriculation examination.
The subject teacher will give a preliminary assessment of the test results within (two) weeks of the test.
Preliminary results are announced to the examinee in Wilma and the results are sent to the Finnish Student Examinations Board (YTL) for final assessment.
YTL will send the results of the matriculation examination to schools on May 13.5.2025, XNUMX.
Final scores and results from Wilma / My Study Pathway. My Study Pathway also includes graded exams from 14.5.2025 May XNUMX.
REQUEST FOR CORRECTION: A request for correction may be made to the final assessment of the Matriculation Examination Board. The candidate may submit a request for correction within 14 days of receiving the assessment, which costs 56 euros/exam.
