According to the Tobacco Act, smoking has been prohibited in all catering establishments since 1.6.2007. The law applies to all catering establishments, regardless of, for example, the size of the serving area or the serving rights. However, the restaurant can arrange smoking areas for its customers inside the restaurant. The smoking area may only be used for smoking, no food or drink may be served there, and no other ancillary activities may be organized there.
The owner of the restaurant or his representative is responsible for compliance with the smoking ban. The task of the restaurant staff, on the other hand, is to monitor that the customers comply with the tobacco law. The municipality's supervisory authorities, occupational health and safety authority and the police monitor compliance with prohibitions and other regulations. To build a smoking area, you must apply for a permit from the municipality's building control.
More information can be found in the Government Council of the regulation smoking rooms.
