In connection with the change of ownership of a building located on a leased plot of the city of Imatra, the new owner of the plot must notify the city of the change of tenant. The notification must be made without delay, at the latest within three months on the transfer of ownership.
The seller can also deliver a copy of the deed of sale to the municipality, to ensure that the plot rent billing is transferred to the new apartment owner.
A fee is charged for the transfer of the lease right. In 2026, the fee will be 78 euros.
Report the transfer of the rental right
You can send a lease transfer notification by e-mail to the address town planning
imatra.fi (city planning[at]imatra[dot]fi). Attach the assignment deed or other document based on the yield to the e-mail.
Or you can submit a transfer deed hard copy:
- copy the deed of sale, transfer deed or other document based on the yield
- Bring it to the city's customer service in an envelope that says Urban Planning on the top.
- or send by post to the address: Urban Planning, Tainionkoskentie 14, 55100 Imatra.
Submit a lease transfer notice to the Land Surveying Office
In addition to the transfer of the leasehold right, an application must be made to the National Land Survey of Finland to register the leasehold right or its transfer. This must be done within six months of the signing of the deed of sale or other deed of transfer of the building on the leased plot.

Exceptional situations
If the lease agreement does not allow the leasehold right to be transferred to another person without the landlord's permission, the tenant must contact the landlord before signing the transfer deed and transferring the leasehold right.
