The streets must be kept in the condition required by traffic. The law sets minimum requirements for the quality of winter care. Winter care includes, for example, snow removal, anti-slippery control and sandblasting removal.
The city and private property owners have their own responsibilities in street maintenance. They are determined by the Street Maintenance and Sanitation Act.
Imatra has approximately 405 kilometers of carriageway and more than 146 kilometers of light traffic lanes.
Winter maintenance is governed by a separate street classification, where the roadways are divided into three maintenance categories: I main streets, II collector streets, III residential streets.
The light traffic lanes are divided into two maintenance categories A and B.
