A maintenance classification has been defined for all streets, which defines the quality level of maintenance procedures. In Imatra, the streets are divided into three maintenance categories. The first maintenance category is main streets, the second maintenance category is collector streets and the third maintenance category is residential streets.
Pedestrian and bicycle paths do not have separately defined maintenance categories. Some of the city's light traffic lanes are only maintained when there is no snow.
The streets must be kept in the condition required by traffic. The city and the owners of private properties have their own responsibilities in the maintenance of traffic lanes. They are determined by the Street Maintenance and Sanitation Act. The owner of the property is responsible for the construction, maintenance and cleaning of his own land connection all year round.
The street's summer and winter maintenance work has been ordered Imatran Kiinteistö- ja Aluepalvelu Oy:ltä.
Winter care includes snow removal, anti-slippery control and removal of sandblasting. Summer care includes street cleaning, mowing, small patching of the street and other maintenance tasks.
