Carbon-neutral fleet of local transport

Status of the measure in December 2021:

Late. The acquisition was appealed to the Market Court and we had to make a temporary operating agreement. Euro 6 cars are now used as fleet. The order for electric buses will only proceed when the actual 10-year operating contract comes into force. The goal will be achieved when the new agreement comes into force.

Status of the procedure in May 2021:

In the low-carbon Imatra 2020-2030 climate program, one of the main goals is that 80 percent of the city organization's traffic runs on renewable energy and public transport is carbon neutral by 2030. The city of Imatra put public transport services out to tender. The competition was won by Turku-based VS Bussipalvelut Oy, which will take over local traffic on June 1.6.2021, XNUMX. At the same time, Imatra takes another step towards a carbon-neutral city. All new buses run on electricity.

Status of the procedure in May 2022: 

The new agreement will hopefully enter into force in 2022.
