The city of Imatra is committed to reducing greenhouse emissions with dozens of measures. There are currently around forty active measures. The updated measures have been approved by the city council in June 2022 and they have been chosen so that the city has influence over them and we can monitor them.
The measures are divided into nine themes, which are displayed on this page. With the help of these measures, we are trying to organize things so that climate-friendly life is as easy as possible for the people of Imatra and those visiting Imatra. The goal is a carbon-neutral Imatra by 2030.
Most of the measures are ongoing or scheduled for 2022. Some of the measures have already ended or are about to end. One-off measures have been, for example, acquisitions where the technology has been updated to a newer one. The updating work can also take time, for example in city properties, where the installation takes place gradually. The measures are updated every autumn and the implementation is reported twice a year. The implementation of the measures is evaluated for each one separately.
The city can do a lot, but the choices of the people of Imatra are decisive. The list of measures is not all-inclusive, but we will evaluate and update the measures in the future.
With these measures, we will get in the right direction in building a carbon-neutral Imatra!
