The Heili library collection's library system will be updated during the fall

The South Karelian Heili library collection will move to a new library system during the fall. The current library software will be replaced with new software, and at the same time the online library's publication platform will be renewed. The change is based on the limitations of the current system and the need to develop library services more sustainably.

The change applies to the Imatra libraries, i.e. the main library, the Rajapatsaa library and the Vuoksenniska library, as well as other Heili libraries in South Karelia. These include the city library of Lappeenranta and the municipal libraries of Lemi, Luumäki, Parikkala, Rautjärvi, Ruokolahti, Savitaipale and Taipalsaari.

Library services will be out of service for about two weeks

All services of Heili libraries in South Karelia will be unavailable 3.-17.12.2024.

- During the outage, you cannot borrow from libraries, you cannot do business in self-service libraries, and you cannot use the online library. There are also e-materials at least in part out of use, says the library expert Ari Sareslahti from the city of Imatra.

Closer to the change, the maturity date of the loans is automatically changed to a longer one so that it exceeds the break in use.

The change does not affect the operation of the national E-library.

The online library is also being renewed

Kirjastokimpa's libraries will move from the Finna-based online library to the Axiell Arena online library. In connection with the renewal, customer information and reservations are automatically transferred to the new system.

Correspondingly, customers' loan history and favorite lists are not transferred from one system to another, but the new system starts saving from the beginning.
