Architectural design of the Wilderness and Nature Culture Museum begins

The Wilderness and Nature Culture Museum planned for Imatra will take a step forward this spring when the architectural design of the museum begins.

The museum is being planned for the premises of Imatra's current town hall. The goal is to build an experiential entity that combines traditions, the present and the future through both activities and experiences.

—The museum is the core of the continued use of the town hall, but other actors can be located around it. We are currently mapping out what other functions and services that reflect man's relationship with nature could be, CEO of the Finnish Wilderness Museum Foundation (photo) Tea Laitimo says.

The plans are expected to be completed this year.

In the design phase that is now beginning, architectural and construction plans, as well as HVAC and electrical plans, will be prepared for the building. 

The design will be carried out by a design working group consisting of Etteplan Finland Oy, Arrak arkkitehdit Oy and Rakennestudio Oy. The goal is to complete the architectural design mainly during this year.

The architectural plans are being implemented as part of the Wilderness and Nature Museum Architectural Plans – JTF project, a joint project of the City of Imatra and the Finnish Wilderness Museum Foundation, funded by the Regional Government of South Karelia.
