

The Road Board's duties ceased in 2019 and they were mainly transferred to the Land Survey.
The road information must be up-to-date in the private road register maintained by the Land Survey and the so-called in the national road and street network information system, i.e. Digiroad (weight restrictions, road use restrictions or prohibitions).

Private roads are roads maintained by property owners and other road users, the road owners themselves. The road owners must participate in the maintenance of the road according to the benefit they receive from the road. Road maintenance includes normal annual care and maintenance works and basic improvement works.
In its meeting, Tiekunta elects a board of trustees or a trustee to handle running matters and decides e.g. basic improvement projects, the budget and road units, on the basis of which the costs are divided between shareholders and users. The road management and maintenance costs must be financed by the tolls collected from road users.
The city of Imatra does not grant grants to private roads.
The Finnish Transport Agency approves from a written application, state grants for private roads for the construction and basic improvement of bridges and culverts, repairing flood and frost damage to roads, and improving load-bearing capacity and traffic safety.
OTSO forest services / Kemera support is intended for private roads whose forest traffic exceeds 30% of the total use of the road.
Finnish Road Association advises and guides road councils and acts as the road council's trustee.
Pursuant to the new Private Roads Act, municipal road boards ceased to exist by the end of 2019.
The tasks of road boards were transferred to land surveying institutions (delivery tasks) and district courts (appeal matters).
According to the Road Traffic Act (§51), a traffic control device is installed on a private road by a road manager (tiekunta) after obtaining the municipality's consent. The road board's meeting decides on the installation of a permanent traffic sign. The city's consent is given by Urban Development and Technical Services in the area of responsibility city engineer, email address is registryimatra.fi. In the case of a permanent road sign, the written application must be accompanied by the minutes of the road board's meeting and the location of the requested road sign on the map, as well as for which traffic sign in accordance with the regulations a permit is applied for.
