Ukrainian children's education begins at the Imatra town hall
On the third floor of the Imatra town hall, Ukrainian children's preparatory classes for primary education will begin on Monday.
─ A total of 35 children start school. They are divided into three groups. Later, more groups will be established if necessary, with a responsible principal coordinating the preparatory teaching Johanna Ovaska says.
Preparatory teaching focuses on the teaching of the Finnish language. After that, the student moves on to basic education. There are already similar preparatory classes in Koski and Vuoksenniska school centers.
Each preparatory class has one teacher and a supervisor.
For school children, swings and a few other play equipment have already been set up on the grass field between the town hall and Culture Center Virra.
The town hall has already functioned as a school in addition to the agency. The students of Linnala school were on the third floor in an evacuation waiting for the Mansikkala school center to be completed.
