The new lighting on the Vuoksi tramway has been implemented using environmentally friendly lighting technology.

The lights on the track will come on for the first time this coming weekend.

The illuminated pedestrian section is between Imatrankoskentie and Imatrankoski sports field. 
The lighting is implemented using environmentally friendly Amber lens technology, which allows the color tone of the luminaires to be selected in a way that takes environmental aspects into account. 

— The aim of lighting the route is to increase the safety and comfort of the area. The lighting technology reduces energy consumption and thus also reduces carbon dioxide emissions from lighting construction, says the city's maintenance engineer. Kaisa Pohjola.

The spotlight is also used to illuminate trees in Raitti. These connections can be made later.

Vuoksi Raitti – Environmentally friendly lighting journey project

Project goals: 
• Improve the safety and aesthetics of the Vuoksi railway with environmentally friendly lighting.
• Reduces energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions in the area by using energy-efficient and environmentally friendly lighting
• Promote the attractiveness of the area and attract more visitors. 

Implementation schedule: Implementation period 17.4.-31.12.2025.
The project has received funding from the European Rural Development Fund 2023–2027.
