Jouko announces: Distribution of paper public transport timetable booklets to households will end in Imatra

Release
20.2.2025 20:23
The distribution of paper public transport timetable booklets to households in Imatra will be discontinued starting with the summer timetable season of 2025.

According to a customer survey conducted by Imatra Local Transport, digital channels are increasingly being used to search for timetable information. In 2023, only around 12% of respondents used paper timetable booklets, and 76% searched for information using a web browser. In 2024, 14,4% of respondents used paper timetable booklets, and 42,2% searched for information using a web browser.

In 2024, 35 paper timetable booklets were distributed to households in Imatra, and the distribution cost 648 euros. In total, 9 timetables were printed for Imatra in 232,86, which cost approximately 40 euros, says the Lappeenranta Region Public Transport Manager. Terhi Koski.

− By phasing out the distribution of paper summer and winter timetables to households, passengers will be increasingly guided to utilize up-to-date and real-time customer information, and at the same time the practice of making paper timetables available will be standardized throughout the Lappeenranta region's public transport area.

In Lappeenranta, the distribution of paper timetables for local transport to households was discontinued in 2019 and the distribution of paper timetables for commuter transport to households was discontinued in 2022.

The end of the distribution of paper timetable booklets to households will result in savings of approximately 25 euros in distribution and the number of timetable booklets distributed. Paper timetable booklets are still available, for example, on Imatra local transport buses and at the customer service point at Imatra City Hall. In addition, Imatra local transport timetables can be found, for example, on the website of the City of Lappeenranta and in the online store of the ticket and payment system.
