What kind of thoughts does Imatrankoski's plan evoke?

Executive director of Elävät Kaupunkikeskustat ry Pokko Lemminkäinen knows the overall state of the country's urban centers and the position of Imatra among others.

- Along with the plans, everyone must always carry the economy with roots: "Money makes the World go around". You won't be born with empty wind hats. For every city, the center is definitely the most important image factor. That says it all. about the city and its future and future prospects, says Lemminkäinen.

City engineer Erik Forstén is satisfied with the active participation of the townspeople in the topic.

- I think the actual plan is currently being formed here. It has been wonderful to notice how actively and passionately the subject is participated. The mind is open and enthusiastic. We have an excellent opportunity to gain experience from this work and learn to do other things as well, he says.

How to proceed from here?

- Implementation possibilities largely culminate in will and resources: both should be found on a large scale and over a long period of time. It is good that the measures are outlined comprehensively already at this stage. We will certainly find things that can be implemented soon, but we will also certainly have something to aim for at the end of the entire target period, states Forstén.

The work will take into account the results of the Kulmille idea competition, surveys and already held workshops.

- The first phase of the three-phase Elävä Imatrankoski project is now complete. Next, the activation of the operators and more detailed planning of the measures will start, says the project's project manager Tuija Valkeapää.

There will be industry-specific company group meetings as well as regular joint meetings where daily activities are activated.

The overall plan is prepared for decision-making, and at the same time, the start of work on top projects is outlined.

- The draft temporary use plan prepared for the Napinkulma area, which is one of the top projects, will go to the comment round, Valkeapää continues.
