The City of Imatra announces the change in the local plan for the Pelkola industrial area
In addition, the area takes into account regional reservations related to border security and municipal engineering, among other things.
During the draft phase, efforts have been made to take into account the area's natural values and existing land use as much as possible. A study has also been commissioned to assess possible noise restrictions.
— The next phase during the winter will be to investigate the safety of potential production facilities. Initial data will be obtained from Norsk e-Fuel and Freija As, who have already signed reservation agreements for the area, the city's land use manager Erik Forstén says.
The draft plans can be viewed at City Hall or on the city's website from December 11, 2025 to January 19, 2026.
Comments on the draft must be submitted to the city by 19 January 2026 at 3 pm in writing to the address Tainionkoskentie 14, 55100 Imatra or by email to registry
