Every permanent and leisure property is obliged to be part of the municipal waste management system, either by joining the property-based waste transport or by becoming a user of a regional collection point. Joining is done by contacting Etelä-Karjalan Jätehuolto Oy.
The South Karelia Waste Management Authority can be contacted, among other things, regarding matters related to waste management regulations and waste fees. The waste management authority can, among other things, grant exceptions to complying with waste management regulations in certain cases or, upon application, reduce the property's waste fee or remove it completely.
