In 2025, there were 133 performances, and 13 performances had to be canceled.

A total of 17,741 spectators visited the Imatra Theatre this year.

– Public work can still be added to this amount. Aki Honkatukia visited nursing and elderly homes in the autumn, Kustaa Tuohimaa visited schools in Imatra, in addition to which an open rehearsal of The Evening Guest was organized. This adds up to a total of about 950 spectators, so the total number can be calculated as 18,691. This is a quite reasonable number of spectators in a city the size of Imatra at this time, says the theater director. Timo Rissanen.

Some of the plays fell short of their goals

The audience target for the play The Three Musketeers, which was performed in the spring, was around 4,500, but it ultimately attracted 2,676 viewers. The musical comedy Kaikessa Soi Rakkaus!, which entertained the audience at the summer theater, also fell slightly short of its target. Its audience target was around 10,500, and the play ultimately attracted 9,192 viewers.

– This shows that it is difficult to predict people's movements in the current situation. Many factors influence behavior, such as more prudent spending and general uncertainty. The predictability of sales is also weakened by the fact that tickets are purchased several months in advance less often than before, Rissanen says.

In the spring, the large stage of the Imatra Theatre also hosted Piaf musical concerts, whose songs were based on the previous year's successful play Piaf – the Little Sparrow. The concerts were attended by 740 spectators. The children's play From the East of the Sun, to the West of the Moon was attended by 256 spectators.

In spring Riitta Havukainen The star interview had 152 viewers. The guest screening was SuomiFilm's Secret Files, which attracted 93 viewers.

The comedy Päivällisvieraan, which was shown in the autumn, was seen by 2,022 viewers. Hiljan päivät, a co-production with Lappeenranta City Theatre, attracted 1,859 viewers, and Tympeät tytöt – Luokkakipuja, a co-production with Teatteri Vaientamatton, attracted 751 viewers. Tympeät tytöt will have additional screenings in spring 2026.

A global blockbuster thriller will be experienced in the spring season of Imatra Theatre

Theatre Imatra's spring season opens with a global hit The Da Vinci Code

– Expectations are high for 2026. A hit is expected in the spring, when the stage version based on Dan Brown's world-famous thriller will have its Nordic premiere. More than 1,600 reservations have already been made for the performance. The summer is also expected to be a success with the musical comedy Gabriel, Come Back!, Rissanen says excitedly.
