The micro traffic permit will be introduced in Imatra on January 1, 2026.
The professional rental of shared micromobility vehicles, such as electric scooters and city bikes, will become subject to a permit in municipally administered areas. The amendments to the Transport Services Act entered into force on 1 August 2025.
The City of Imatra will introduce the micro traffic permit on January 1, 2026, utilizing the transition period permitted by law to ensure careful preparation of the permit conditions.
— The city can define permit conditions based on traffic safety, accessibility or street maintenance. The conditions can concern, for example, areas of use, driving speeds or parking spaces, says the city engineer. Väinö Juvakka.
Urban Infrastructure is preparing the introduction and conditions of the micro traffic permit during the autumn. In preparing the permit conditions, the needs for future permit conditions will be extensively investigated and various stakeholder groups will be consulted.
After preparation, the Economic Development and Urban Environment Board will decide on the permit conditions for micro-traffic permits. The permit conditions and application instructions will be published on the city's website no later than 1 January 2026.
