Meltola area renovation continues after the winter break

The largest works in the Meltola area renovation will be carried out during the summer, but on Wednesday, March 4.3, the installation of a stormwater pipe in the ditch between Myllymiehenkatu and Valjaskatu will begin.

— Work will start this week and the installation will take an estimated two to three weeks, says the foreman. Jukka Malinen From Imatra's Real Estate and Area Service.

During 2026, the following streets in the Meltola area will be renovated:

• Mellonkatu
• The track between Mellonkatu and Valjaskatu
• Horsemen Street
• Myllymiehenkatu: The section between Mellonkatu and Valjaskatu
• Myllymiehenkatu from the intersection of Hevosmiehenkatu to Viipurintie

In connection with the street renovation, the streets and their municipal engineering, i.e. the street's structural layers, stormwater structures with piping, and water supply and wastewater equipment with piping, will be renewed. In addition, this year, asphalting and finishing work will be carried out on the streets renovated in Meltola in 2025.

The start of work will be announced separately.

Meltola regional renovation will continue in 2027

Next year, the area will be renovated as follows:

• Kiesikuja
• The rest of Myllymiehenkatu
• asphalting and finishing works of streets renovated in 2026 

The contractor will inform residents separately about any changes that may occur during the area renovation work, such as water outages and unusual traffic arrangements, as the work progresses.
