Imatra has installed remotely readable water meters since 2016. The first water meters were changed for renovation projects. The purpose is to bring the entire city of Imatra within the scope of distance learning in about ten years.
About 2023 meters have been replaced by December 4500. In the future, meters will be replaced approximately 1000 times a year.
Changing meters is done as a continuous job. In practice, the meter exchange is carried out by Imatra's Property and Area Service Kipa.
The work is free.
Water bills for remotely readable water meters are based on actual consumption. Imatran Vesi reads remotely readable water meters by billing period eli every three months by distance learning.
The reading of the remote-readable water meter is reported for billing only in exceptional cases
Such situations exist, for example, when the owner of the property changes or a tenant is taken/changed in the property. In this case, the customer must indicate the exchange date and water meter reading on the invoicing (+ in the case of a change of ownership, a completed transfer notice or a copy of the deed of sale). In this case, it is good to state all eight numbers of the water meter, i.e. also liters.
Interpretation of remotely readable meters
There are two types of meters that can be read remotely: in 2016-2020, different meters were installed than from 2021 onwards.
