Versatile services for both job seekers and employers.

For job seekers

To receive unemployment benefits, a job seeker must first register with the employment authority, i.e. the South Karelia employment region. After that, they can also ask the city for help.

The city's employment services offer voluntary employment promotion services to job seekers. The aim of the services is to help job seekers get back into working life or education.

For example, the following are available:

  • assisting employment tasks
  • work experience
  • integration training internship opportunities
  • job training
  • competence development and guidance for training
  • civilian service positions

In addition, job seekers receive personal advice and guidance to help them find a suitable path to employment more quickly.

There is a dedicated service for young people in Ohjaamo.

There is a low-threshold service, Ohjaamo Imatra, available for those under 30. You can come there without making an appointment to ask for advice on, for example, job searching, studying or everyday matters.

— When you come to Ohjaamo, you don't need to know who you're going to meet or what service you need, because you'll always be greeted by an Ohjaamo employee who will take you to the right place, says the Ohjaamo coordinator. Jaana Gröhn.

The cockpit is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 13 p.m. to 16 p.m.

The cab is also located at Einonkatu 10, the entrance is from the Napinkuja side.

For employers

Employment services are not just for job seekers. Companies in Imatra also receive help from the city with recruitment and finding suitable workers.

— We help employers and job seekers from Imatra meet each other. We also offer employers information on employment-related solutions and enable them to organize recruitment events, says the development manager. Marika Vento.

South Karelia recruitment support makes hiring easier

By hiring an unemployed job seeker from Imatra, the employer can receive financial support from the city.
South Karelia's recruitment support is a discretionary financial support aimed at lowering the threshold for hiring a new employee. The support is:

  • 4500 euros per employee to be hired
  • intended for companies, associations and organizations
  • aimed specifically at situations where a person who has been unemployed for a long time or who otherwise has difficulty finding employment is hired
  • The support is paid in two installments during the employment relationship (at 6 and 12 months), and the employment relationship must last at least one year.
  • Recruitment support is applied for from the employee's municipality of residence. All municipalities in South Karelia grant recruitment support.
