Imatra's taxation will remain stable in 2026
The income tax rate is expected to remain at the current level in 2026, i.e. 8,6 percentage points.
In the following years, the income tax rate must be examined separately from the perspective of the economy's carrying capacity, taking into account, among other things, the reformed government transfer system.
— The biggest question mark regarding municipal revenue funding is the government subsidy reform planned to come into effect in 2027, but we still don't know anything about the details. So far, it looks like the city's annual budget targets for the coming year can be achieved, although it won't be easy, says the mayor. Matias Hilden.
Income tax revenue is expected to be 48,3 million euros next year. The yield of one tax percentage point is expected to be 5,6 million euros.
The property tax revenue forecast for 2026 is 12,6 million euros.
A significant part of the city's tax base is formed by the taxable value of properties owned by public benefit organizations, which is 7,5 million euros.
The current property tax rates of the City of Imatra and the proposed property tax rates from January 1, 2026 are presented in the table below.
The City Board will discuss the municipal and real estate tax rates to be submitted to the City Council for decision at its meeting on Monday, October 27, 2025.
