Registration for the first grade of basic education and bilingual education ends on Friday, January 16, 2026.
Registration for the first grade of basic education is underway. Enrollment at the school is on a first-come, first-served basis. Willman The same school registration form is also used to apply for extensive bilingual education.
The registration period for the first class ends on Friday 16.1.
Bilingual classes teach English from the first grade onwards.
Bilingual education is organized in Imatra at the Koski School Center. In the bilingual class, English is studied as the target language from the first grade onwards. In addition, English is used in everyday activities, taking into account the children's age level, for example in greetings and instructions.
– In the first and second grades, English is used in about 25% of the lessons. The amount increases with age, so that in the fifth and sixth grades, English is used in 70–80% of the lessons, the teacher Miia Nokelainen says.
The entrance exams for the language classes will be held at the Koski School Center in February, week eight. The exams will test, among other things, issues related to the mother tongue and understanding of things.
Bilingual education can also be applied for in other classes, if there is space in the classes. Supplementary applications for these classes will be organized in spring 2026. The exact date will be specified later and guardians will be informed about it through Wilma.
