Construction measurements will be taken at the Virta Cultural Center from 14 to 25.7 July.
Measurements are taken on weekdays between 8 am and 16 pm.
— For the design, all the spaces of the Virta Cultural Center are measured in order to obtain the correct initial data for the plans. The measurement is done using laser scanning, so that scanning is done in all spaces on the inside, says the developer. Henry Tapiola From Mitra.
The building's facades are also measured. During the measurements, A4 and A5-sized measuring markers, as shown in the black and white image below, are attached to the interior and exterior walls of the property.
— The markings are removed by the surveyors as soon as the measurement of the object is completed, says Tapiola.
The measurements will not cause any inconvenience to those who use Virta.
Spot scanning provides information about the dimensions of the building and compares them with the plans.
— The old plans are on paper in 2D format, so to speak, and now they are made in 3D format, Tapiola says.
The measurement is carried out by Tietoa Finland Oy

Virta Cultural Center Renovation
The renovation affects the entire Virta Cultural Center property, i.e. the main library, city museum, art museum, corridor gallery, Virta College premises, Karelia hall, café, and the building's office and meeting rooms.
If the renovation of the Virta Cultural Center is decided to be carried out as planned, practical steps will not be taken until autumn 2026 at the earliest.
The functions of the Virta Cultural Center will be relocated to the current City Hall premises during the renovation. The City Hall's operations will be moving to Koskenlinkki in Imatrankoski in late autumn 2025.
The points bowling was also held at the city hall last spring.
The measurements were taken for the design of the future wilderness and nature culture museum. The resulting image of the interior of the city hall looks like this:
