A new portal for monitoring water consumption has been opened as a pilot for housing companies in Imatra

In the first phase, the portal is aimed only at property managers.

The portal works in housing companies that have installed remote-readable water meters. The portal allows the property manager to monitor and view the water consumption of the main water meters. 

— The replacement of water meters with remotely readable models is well underway in Imatra. The aim is to replace all water meters with remotely readable ones by the summer of 2026, says the water supply manager Kari Pietarinen from Imatran Vesi.

Replacing remotely readable meters is free of charge for the customer, but costs may arise if the water utility detects pipes or meter valves that may require repair during the meter replacement.

Registering and logging into the customer portal requires strong authentication. 

At this stage, only authorized signatories of housing companies who are registered in the Finnish Patent and Registration Office's register can register and log in to the Imatra Water customer portal. The goal is to make the customer portal available to all customers of the water utility during 2026.

The portal updates readings once a day and the user can choose a view that suits them.

The hourly view shows hourly readings for one day, the daily view shows the consumption of the past month on a daily basis, and if you select the monthly view, the portal shows monthly consumption on a yearly basis. 

— The portal allows you to monitor water consumption in liters or cubic meters. Alarms can be turned on from the portal, even to the property manager's or maintenance man's email and text message, says a service management expert from Alva-yhtiöt Oy, which is responsible for the portal.
