The final selection of the three works was made by the art work group and the student body.

The artwork to be placed in the yard of Vuoksenniska's new school center has been selected. It's a sculptor Jarkko Liutun Horisontti work. Last fall, the already selected artist made three alternative works, from which the representatives of the school's student body and the three-person art work group chose their favorite. The choice for both was the same, so gravel sounds were avoided

- The environment of the Vuoksenniska school is fascinating. I tried to get the same strong contact with nature in this work as well, describes Liutu.

Doing the work has been a special process for Liutu, as he is a former student of the same school.

The three parts of the work form a spatial entity.

- The child sitting on the branch of the three-meter "reel" coming to Pihakumpare seems to be looking to the future, to the horizon, where he sees birds flying freely on the wall of the sports building. A life-sized crow, a wise and learning bird, sits on the eaves of the new building. The symbolism nicely connects the work to the school world, the head of the art group Reetta Ahonen describes the chosen work.

- In my opinion, the story-like nature gives good reasons for a person to find himself in the work. This way, a strong bond can be created between the experiencer and the work, continues Liutu.

The materials of the works are aluminum and bronze.

The body of work is ready and will be announced after the completion of the school center in 2019. Liutu's work is so-called percentage art, which means that part of the costs of the new Vuoksenniska school will be used for art.
